Which themes are in the Enterprise theme suite?
The Enterprise theme suite includes three themes:
- Enterprise - designed to show how the theme can be used for technical products
- Outlet - tailored for outdoor and sports brands
- Homestead - designed for homewares, food and lifestyle products
Each theme in the suite is a different preset of the core Enterprise theme, giving merchants a relevant starting point while maintaining the same flexibility and functionality across the theme suite.
Which guide should I follow for my theme?
Enterprise, Outlet and Homestead are all part of the Enterprise theme suite. The Enterprise user guides apply to all three presets.
How are themes shown in the Theme Store?
Before August 2025, the Shopify Theme Store sold themes that included multiple styles or presets. Each theme had multiple demo stores which illustrated the flexibility and range of looks that could be achieved.
In 2025, Shopify revamped the Theme Store to list every preset as if it were an individual, standalone theme. This significantly increased the number of visible starting points for merchants. Each listed theme could be targeted at a specific industry or use case, helping merchants to find relevant designs. When a theme is purchased, the store is set up to match only the selected demo (preset), including the homepage layout, fonts, and color scheme. The theme style can be changed in theme settings.
Under the hood, these themes are still connected. They share the same feature set and underlying codebase and differ only in their visual design. Each group of related presets is built on the same core theme.
Some definitions
What are themes?
A theme includes templates, sections, settings, and features that control how a Shopify store works and how content is displayed. A single theme can be used to create many different visual designs all built on the same codebase.
What are presets?
A preset is simply an example of how the theme can be set up. It is a predefined design configuration of a theme. It combines a specific set of layouts, colors, fonts, and default settings to create a distinct visual style. Presets do not change the theme’s features — they only affect how the theme looks and is initially configured.
What are theme styles?
A theme style is another word for preset.
What are demo stores?
A demo store is a live preview used in the Shopify Theme Store to showcase a specific preset. It shows how that preset looks and feels when applied to real content, helping merchants understand the design and imagine it applied to their own store. When a theme is purchased, the selected demo store determines the starting layout, colors, and typography.
What is a theme suite?
A theme suite is a group of related theme presets presented as individual themes in the Shopify Theme Store. They share the same underlying code and feature set. While each preset in a theme suite may have a different visual design or industry focus, they are simply just different design expressions of the same core theme.
FAQs
Will my theme look exactly like the demo store?
Purchasing or trialling a theme gives access to all the features available across the theme presets. However, the downloaded theme will adopt only the colors, fonts and homepage settings of the selected demo store. The theme does not include sample products, and the underlying template layouts remain the same for all themes in the suite.
Can I change preset?
The theme styles in a theme suite are listed at the bottom of the theme settings tab. It is possible to apply the font, color and some design settings by changing theme style. However, this will not affect which sections are shown. Be aware that applying a new theme style will overwrite your existing settings, so it may be best to make a quick duplicate copy of the theme, before applying a style.
Can I trial two themes from the same theme suite in the same store?
No, this is currently not supported by Shopify. It's only possible to trial one theme from a given theme suite at a time.
