Learn how to set up the cart page in the Masonry theme.

What is the cart?

The cart is is a dedicated page for customers to review and manage the items they have added to the shopping cart before proceeding to checkout. The cart in the Masonry theme is quick and easy to set up. 

Cart page

The cart page can be configured and customized like other pages of the store.

Steps

  1. Open the Theme editor, and select Cart from the template picker dropdown at the top.
  2. Click the Cart page section on the left hand side.

Cart page settings

In the cart page settings, there are a variety of settings that can be used to modify the layout and functionality.

  • Show cart notes permits customers to add extra information to the order.
  • Show tax and shipping information displays any tax status and shipping policy links (required in some EU countries).
  • Show Terms and Conditions checkbox means customers will be required to tick a box to accept the terms and conditions before proceeding to the checkout. Additional checkout options will be hidden when the cart terms are shown. Include a Page for Terms and Conditions link by using the page picker.
  • Show additional checkout options is the option to enable dynamic checkout buttons.
  • Show backorder text is used to indicate to customers that an item is currently out of stock but will be shipped when it is back in stock. This setting only displays text for products which have been set to allow purchase when out of stock where Shopify tracks the inventory.

Shipping calculator

A Shipping calculator feature that uses the shipping and delivery rates set out in the Shopify admin under Settings > Shipping and delivery.

How to choose the add to cart behavior

The add to cart behavior is controlled in the Buy buttons block on the Product template or Featured product section. Customers can be go directly to the cart page or remain on the product page with a link to go to the cart. 

Steps

  1. Open the Theme editor and go to the Product template or Featured product section.
  2. Click on the Buy buttons block.
  3. Choose whether to Stay on the current page, when adding to cart or go direct to the cart page after adding to the cart.
