What are the video carousel and social video carousel sections?
The Video carousel and Social video carousel sections are used to present multiple videos with product links. Curate a carousel of mp4 videos, or use the Social video carousel to display YouTube shorts, TikToks or Instagram reels.
Video content encourages longer page visits, which can be good for SEO. Social media videos can boost product appeal and build trust through candid, relatable content. User guides help customers visualize how products work in real-life, while influencer reviews and customer testimonials offer compelling social proof. Short form videos are optimized for mobile viewing and ideal for users browsing on phones who prefer visual content.

How set up the video carousel section
The Video carousel shows mp4 videos with product and social media links in a neat carousel. Videos can autoplay and include audio controls.
Steps
- Open the Theme Editor. Click Add section and add a Video carousel section to the page.
- Add a Heading (if required), set the Size and Alignment and decide whether to Center text on mobile.
- Under Video carousel use the settings to determine the behavior of the video. If Autoplay is selected, the video will start to play when it becomes visible on screen. Each video that is visible in the carousel will play in turn. Videos will be muted unless the user chooses to unmute them. The Play video on hover can also apply on larger screens to make it quicker to change video or start a video playing.
- Choose whether to show a Product card over the video. Select whether to only Show the product card on hover (Desktop).
- In the Style settings, select a Color scheme and choose one of the five Section background options:
Default: Uses a color scheme
Color: Select a custom Background color
Image: Upload a Background image
Simple gradient: Set the start and end colors, plus select the gradient style
Advanced gradient: Fully customize the gradient further using the Color stop settings - In the Video block settings, add an mp4 video.
- In the settings for each Video block, choose whether to Enable product card and select a Product.
- Each video block can display a Social handle and Social profile link.
Tip
If the video is not 9:16 aspect ratio, choose Enable video frame to add a colored background.
How set up the social video carousel section
The Social video carousel is similar to the Video carousel section, but it can show embedded videos from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube in addition to mp4s.

When I select autoplay, can the video play with audio?
No. Browsers don’t allow sound to be active by default on auto-playing videos. Read Google's autoplay policy in Chrome for more. The Video carousel and Social video carousel include play/pause and audio mute/unmute controls.
How can I control the layout of social media videos?
The Video carousel is the best option for controlling the layout of videos. Social media videos saved as mp4 files in Shopify can be displayed in the Video carousel.
Why is there a gradient at the top of each video block?
A dark gradient is shown at the top of each video block to ensure that the white social media handle and video controls are legible.
