What is the footer section?
The Footer is a crucial element of the store, providing a space to display key information such as contact details, legal notices and navigation links. In Beautify, the footer showcases a striking image along with a logo or store name, creating a distinctive and visually appealing design. A variety of settings are available to customize both the design and content, ensuring a polished and professional footer.
How to create a footer section
Steps
- Open the Theme Editor and in the Footer Group see that the Footer section is already present.
- Either edit an existing Footer block or select Remove block and add a different block type. There are three different block types and a maximum of six blocks can be added.
- In the main Footer settings, a placeholder for a prominent, attention-grabbing Footer image is included.
- In the Large store name or logo settings, an image can be selected to serve as the logo. If no image is selected, the default store name will be displayed. To customize the text, enter the preferred text in the Replace default store name setting. Adjust the Font size, Letter spacing, and Height settings to enhance the footer's visibility and make it more attention-grabbing.
- In the Footer content settings, alternatively or in addition to the menu selected in the Footer menu block, a single level Secondary menu can be selected. This will be shown above the logo at the bottom of the footer and may be useful for policy links or if a simpler footer layout is desired.
Although the Footer section is restricted to a maximum of six blocks, these blocks can be duplicated to account for slightly different content requirements. For example, two Text, image and socials blocks could be added with content and an image in one block followed by more concentrated text in the other.
How to add payment icons
In the Footer content settings, the Show payment icons setting can be selected. These icons are pulled in directly from Shopify based on your payment settings.
These can be changed in the Shopify admin area, by going to Settings > Payments.
It's not possible to add a custom payment icon (e.g. AfterPay) without hiring a developer to do this.
How to add social links
Set up social media links in the theme settings before selecting to show them in the footer.
Steps
- Go to Theme settings > Social media and insert the required URLs. A Custom link with an additional icon is also available.
- Add the Text, image and socials block ensuring the Enable social media icons setting is activated.
FAQs
Can I add my own payment icons?
No. They are taken directly from the Payment settings in the Shopify admin area.
I've added the Text, image and socials block, but no social icons are displayed?
These must be set up in Theme Settings > Social media before the theme will be able to display them in the Text, image and socials block. You must also activate the Enable social media icons setting.
How can I change the copyright message?
The copyright message is a translation and can be changed by opening the Theme Editor > ... > Edit default theme content. The message can also be hidden using the setting Show copyright text in the Footer content.
Can I remove the main footer image?
No. In Beautify, the large image is an integral part of the design ethos, setting it apart from more traditional footers, and ensuring a distinctive attention-grabbing look.
