What is the search bar?
The search bar is a powerful tool which provides all of the functionality of a Storefront search. It allows customers to search across all of your store's products, articles and pages.
In Beautify, you can showcase popular searches and popular products, along with optional search suggestions. This opens up numerous opportunities to influence customer behavior, both in terms of navigation and purchasing decisions, by highlighting specific items that may capture attention.
Tip
How to set up header search suggestions
As the customer types their search term in the search bar, search suggestions can dynamically appear in the header search. This can help customers refine their search without being redirected to a search results page, and enables them to explore the store quickly by seeing the top results for suggested search terms.
Steps
- Open the Theme editor and click on Header section.
- Scroll to the Search settings and select Enable search to show the search in the header.
- Open the Theme editor and click on Theme settings > Search.
- Select Show search suggestions to show suggested search terms.
- The product title, vendor and product type fields are automatically searched. Switch on the Search SKUs and Search tags settings to also show these in the search results.
How to set up the header popular searches
Beautify has the ability to show an additional Popular searches menu which can be present on the left below the search bar every time a customer clicks on the header search icon. It can provide an additional opportunity to advertise specific products, collections or pages in your store.
Steps
- Create a new single level menu in the Shopify admin area's Content > Menus. Read How to set up a menu for more.
- Open the Theme editor and click on Header section, scroll to the Search settings and select Enable search.
- In the Popular searches setting, select the menu created above.
How to set up the header popular products
Beautify can display up to four popular products, which appear when the customer clicks on the search icon in the header. These products are shown alongside the popular searches menu, or, if the popular searches menu is not used, they will occupy the entire search window.
Tip
- Open the Theme editor and click on Header section, scroll to the Search settings and select Enable search.
- To select products go to Popular products, click Select and choose up to four products to be shown. If the products chosen have a transparent background then it may be appropriate to use the Show cutout cards setting.
- Insert an optional Popular products title.
