What is the media with text section?
The Media with text section allows customers to view video content or images, accompanied by a optional text and a button. In Beautify, up to two media blocks can be added, which can be a combination of images and videos.
An image can be displayed on its own, or, when paired with a video, it serves as the cover image until the video starts. The video will autoplay with the audio muted by default. A well designed media with text section can engage customers, encouraging them to stay longer and build a stronger connection with your brand, which may ultimately lead to higher conversion rates.
How to set up the media with text section
Steps
- Open the Theme Editor and click Add section and add a Media with text section to the page.
- In the main Media with text settings, insert an optional Heading, Text and a Button.
- In the Style settings and choose whether the section should be Full width.
- Select a Color scheme for the content. Color schemes can be managed in Theme settings > Colors.
- Choose one of the five Section background options:
Default: Uses Beautify's default color scheme selected in Theme settings > Colors > Schemes.
Color: Select a custom Background color
Image: Upload a Background image
Simple gradient: Set the gradient start and end colors, plus the gradient style
Advanced gradient: Customize the gradient further using the COLOR STOP settings - If the section is not full width, an additional Layout setting, Boundary above section controls the spacing above the section. This can help to create smoother transitions between sections.
Default - Will leave the standard spacing at the top of the section
Tight - Will leave a smaller space between sections
Join - Adjacent sections will touch each other - In the Layout settings, adjust the Content alignment.
- In the two Media block settings, an Image or Video can be shown. The first media block is always smaller, while the second block is larger. To change this, adjust the order of the blocks. To show only one Image or video, hide or remove one of the blocks.
- If using video, add a Video description. Adding alt text to videos and images can also help with assistive technologies and SEO. Alt text is added in the Shopify admin.
Tip
If using a video, it is recommended to add an image as well. This will display in the place of the video while it is loading, or if it cannot autoplay. This could be due to reasons such as a user’s poor internet connection, limited browser support or slow page load times.
FAQs
When I select autoplay, can the video play with audio?
No. Browsers don’t allow sound to be active by default on auto-playing videos. Most browsers will block the video, which can cause issues. If you need audio in your video, it’s always best to give your customers the choice as to when they want to play the video.
