What is the collection list section?
The Collection list section is designed to promote and link directly to collections. A useful tool to showcase the variety of collections that are available to potential customers, it is quick to set up and can aid product discovery which may help to drive additional sales.
How to create a collection list section
Steps
- Open the Theme editor
- Add a Collection list section.
- Click on Collection list to configure the Heading, Layout and Style settings for the section, including settings such as the Card size, Color scheme and layout (Grid or Carousel).
- Click on one of the existing Collection blocks, and Select collection to choose which collection to be shown. A image can be uploaded in the block settings or alternatively the default collection image is shown. The default Image source, which can be the First product image or the Collection image, is controlled in Theme settings > Collection cards.
- Repeat this process until all the required collection blocks have been added. The collection blocks will align to the left of the page.
- Click Save when the section set up is complete.
How to control the collection card layout
Control the layout and content of collection cards across the store and in the collection list section using Theme settings > Collection cards.
Find store wide settings to control the collection card Image source which can be the Collection image or First product image. The settings also provide control of the predominant Image shape, Image fit and Image alignment.
Set the Collections per row on mobile, choose the Text alignment for the collection name and decide whether to Show product count.
Carousel vs grid layout
Whilst similar, each layout has its benefits, and can be used to create different looks on your store.
The Carousel layout option will display the collection cards in a single row with horizontal scrolling, and is ideal for when a more compact look is required.
The Grid layout option shows collections in multiple rows, and can be an excellent solution when looking to show more than one row of collections.
FAQs
Can I use a collection list metafield rather than blocks?
The Collection list section in the Alchemy theme doesn't allow content to be drawn from a collection metafield of type "list of collections". Rather, each collection in the section is added block by block with the option to pull in a unique image.
