What is a fit / feature rating block?

A Fit / Feature rating block displays specific product features in a simple visual way. Depending on the product characteristics, one block or multiple blocks can be used. A key benefit of this block, is that it can be used to communicate information to customers quickly, thereby assisting in the purchase decision making process which may lead to higher conversions.

How to set up fit / feature rating block

Steps

  1. Open the Theme editor and navigate to a product page
  2. Select the Product pages section in the Template group on the left
  3. Click Add block and select Fit / Feature rating
  4. Select the number of Segments, Active segment and choose the label contents
  5. Click Save

How to set up unique fit/feature ratings blocks for products using metafields

To create specific Fit / Feature rating blocks for particular products, unique product page templates can be used. 

Steps

 

 

 

  1. In the Shopify admin area, navigate to Settings > Custom data > Metaobject definitions
  2. Click on Add definition and name it Fit block
  3. Add five Single line text fields and choose One value for each

  4. Name each field to match the Fit block fields.Annotated Image (1).png
  5. Go to Settings > Custom Data > Products > Add definition
  6. Name it Fit block, select the Metaobject created in the steps above
  7. Click Save

  8. Go to Theme editor > Product page > Add Fit /Feature rating block

  9. Click on the dynamic content button and select the Metaobject > Fit block

  10. Check that all fields are entered correctly and if not, link the required content manually.
  11. Choose the number of Segments

  12. In the Shopify admin area, go to Products > Select a product > Scroll to metafields.
  13. Select Fit block from the list and insert the required data.
  14. Click Save.

Note

The Bulk Editor is a helpful tool to quickly update metafields and other attributes across all your products.

FAQs

Can I link segments to a dynamic source?

No, Shopify does not support linking segments to dynamic sources. To adjust segment positioning, we recommend creating a unique product template and assigning it to the relevant products. However, you can still utilize the metaobject you've created in this process.

Will my Fit / Feature block still show if no data is entered?

No, the block will be hidden on products with no data entered into them. 

Do I need to create a new entry for each product?

No, if multiple products share identical values, you can use the same entry for efficiency, saving time. The bulk editing process mentioned above can help expedite this process.
