What is the search bar?
The online store search is a fully featured, powerful tool for your customers to search across all of your store's products, blog posts, and pages.
The Canopy theme provides various options for the search feature, allowing you to select the one that best suits your store. You can choose from a search icon that opens a search box on click, a search box integrated into the toolbar, no search option, or an icon for mobile devices and a search box for desktop. It's all up to you!
How to set up search suggestions
Search suggestions (or Predictive search) show suggested results as you type. It helps your customers refine their search without being redirected to a search results page, and quickly explore your store by seeing top results for suggested search terms, products, collections, and more.
Steps
- Open the Theme editor, and click on Theme Settings > SEARCH.
- Within the Search settings, check the Enable search suggestions setting.
- Choose the Show vendor, Show price and Search tags and skus.
- Click Save.
Tip
How to set up the product type dropdown
You can also show a Product type dropdown, by clicking All within the search bar itself. This narrows the product search helping customers find what they’re shopping for quicker.
Tip
- Open the Theme editor, and click on Header.
- Within the SEARCH settings, check the Show product type dropdown setting.
- Click Save.
