What is the cart drawer?

The Cart drawer is a convenient additional cart experience that allows customers to view and manage their shopping cart without leaving the current page. When activated, it slides out from the side of the screen and displays key cart information such as the selected products, quantities, discounts and total price among other items.

If you choose to use the cart drawer, you can select from three display settings in the theme settings:

• Open when cart icon is clicked.
• Open when a product is added to cart.
• Always visible (on larger screens).

This allows customers to quickly review and make changes to their cart, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

How to set up the cart drawer

These settings can be found via the Admin, by going to Online store > Customize theme > Theme Settings > Cart > Cart type.

Some apps, such as those for selecting delivery time slots, may only integrate with the shopping cart page, not the cart drawer. In such instances, you can activate the Checkout button goes to cart page setting within the Cart Drawer section, directing users to the shopping cart page (and the app) before checkout.

The shopping cart drawer provides a convenient and efficient way for your customers to review the products in their cart. It is also an opportunity for you to showcase additional sales information, such as promoted products and promotional images with overlay text. To maximize the impact, these advertisements will be displayed even before customers have added items to their cart.

When customers add items to their cart, the promoted products will be neatly tucked away in an accordion with a heading text of your choice. As the cart becomes filled with products, the promoted items and promotional images will be pushed below the items in the cart, allowing the user to view the maximum number of products at any given time.

The cart drawer can hold many items, and to enhance the shopping experience for your customers, you can enable a setting that makes the checkout buttons remain visible while they scroll through the cart's contents. 

From the Admin, go to Online store > Themes > Customize > Theme Settings > Navigate to your cart page > Cart drawer. Check the Checkout buttons stick on scroll box.
