How to create multiple unique product page templates
Summary of steps mentioned in the above video:
- Head to Admin > Online store > Customise theme > Use the dropdown list at the top of the preview window to select “Products” > “Create template” (this ensures your original product template remains unchanged whilst we work on a new one).
- Add a name of your choice, like “Bag”
- Choose “default product” as your “based on” option and click “create template”
- Your new template will be loaded in the editor preview window to work on. If you wish to work on a different product, click “change” next to “preview” in the top left hand corner of the screen.
- Expand “product pages” in the left hand side settings panel and add / remove any content blocks or add any sections you wish to display on your page. Here’s more information on how sections and content blocks work.
- Assign the template to your product page by heading to Admin > Product > Select your product > On the right lower side you will see an option for ‘theme template’, click this and select the new template you created previously. Make sure you have your theme published for this part, otherwise you won’t be able to select the template.
- Once you have assigned this template, click save, and that’s it. You should now be able to view this product page and see your unique layout applied.
How to create multiple unique pages (multiple story pages)

- Add a name of your choice, like “Story Page One”
- Choose “default page” as your “based on” option and click “create template”
- Your new template will be loaded in the editor preview window to work on. If you wish to work on a different page, click “change” next to “preview” in the top left hand corner of the screen.
- On the left hand side, next to “page”, click the eyeball icon to hide the page content.
- Add any sections you’d like to display. Save your changes. Here’s more information on how sections and content blocks work.
- Assign the template to an existing page by heading to Admin > Pages > Select your page > On the right lower side you will see an option for ‘theme template’, click this and select the new template you created previously. Make sure you have your theme published for this part, otherwise you won’t be able to select the template.
- Once you have assigned this template, click save, and that’s it. You should now be able to view this page and see your unique layout applied.
- To add this to a new page, simply go to Admin > Pages > Add page > On the right lower side you will see an option for ‘theme template’, click this and select the new template you created previously.
- To set this up additional pages, simply repeat the steps of creating new templates and assign them to existing or new pages as you see fit. Remember you have the option to choose “based on” for step three above, if you wish to use an existing template and only make a few changes when creating a new template.
- Once you have finished the above, go here to link your new page/s to your navigation menu if you wish: Admin > Online store > Navigation.
To remove a page template, firstly duplicate your theme for peace of mind, then head to: Admin > Online store > Actions > Edit code > Open the “Templates” folder > Look for your template name/s preceded by “story.” > Click “delete file”
Contact us template
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Pages.
- Click Add page.
- In the Title box, type a title for your contact page, such as Contact us or Get in touch.
- In the Content box, type any text that you want to appear above the contact form. You can leave this section blank.
- Some information that you might want to add in the Content box:
- Short, friendly text such as “We’ll get back to you as soon as we can”
- Your store’s address, with an image of your physical storefront, if you have a retail location
- Your phone number, if you want customers to be able to reach you by phone
- In the Online store section, choose
contact
from the Theme template drop-down menu. - Click Save.
Your contact form should now be visible on your Contact page.
Pre-order template (Supported currently Showcase & Symmetry)
Summary of steps mentioned in the above video:
- Head to Admin > Products > Select the product you wish to assign your pre-order template to. (Please note theme must be published in order to select the template)
- Under the “Theme template” dropdown, choose ‘preorder’
- Save your changes
- Head to Admin > Online store > Customise theme
- On the left-hand side panel, choose “theme settings”, then ‘products’ and make sure the toggle is active for “show pre-order label”
- Save your changes
How to create more than 1 preorder template? (added in version 5.4.1 Showcase 5.2.0 Symmetry, need to update the theme to get this)
- When creating a template, just include the word preorder in the name and it will make it a pre-order product template.
- You can also base it off another pre-order template which we suggest also doing but be sure to include preorder in the name when creating it.

FAQ template (Supported currently Showcase & Symmetry)
To help you understand the process of setting up an FAQs page, we have put together a video guide below.
Summary of steps from the above video:
- Head to Admin > Online store > Customise theme
- From the theme editor area’s dropdown option menu, select Pages > FAQ
- On the left hand side menu panel, after the page preview has loaded, you will see a ‘content block’ which you can expand to add in your own individual questions. There is currently a platform limit to how many you can add here. Shopify Support will be able to confirm the exact number.
- To add more content blocks, you can simply add a new “FAQ” section and populate this with the full amount blocks again if you wish. Repeat until you are happy with everything.
- Save your changes and assign your page template outside of the theme editor area in Admin > Online store > Pages > Choose your page > Theme template

How to see which theme version you are using
- Admin > Online Store > Themes > Customize theme
- In the top left-hand side of your screen, click the three little dots
- An additional panel appears where you will see your theme version details
